Since this quarantine started for me on March 16, my whole world is changed, which is why I haven’t been around.
My husband had his gall bladder removed, then a mini stroke. As he was recovering, I started back to work and focused on taking care of him. Once he got back on his feet, I ended up having a nasty gall bladder attack myself that resulted in a 3.5 hour surgery to remove it and then 2 weeks in the hospital due to complications. Another few weeks of recovery and I’ve finally begun to feel human again.
During this time, we also found our “forever home”, almost by chance. Since about three years after we were married, my husband and I have wanted some land in the country. We’ve been in town for way too long but just hadn’t found the right place for us to settle until recently. In late May we happened upon this house and 40 acres in the country. It checked every box for what we wanted in a place – remote, away from the main road, acreage – except the house only has two bedrooms. We made an offer almost immediately and the pieces just fell into place.
This past weekend we moved all of the essentials and my son and I are living full time on the new Farm. Hubs still has to work some at the old house. For the first time since my grandma died and her place was sold I feel like I can put down roots. I’ve always felt our other place was temporary and there was a level of anxiety that went with that. Now that’s gone.
This is the beginning of a beautiful rest of our life.
